Alexia Pierre

During their residency at Treignac Projet, Lise Thiollier and Alexia Pierre are continuing their collaboration, which began three years ago, and are working on the co-publication of an interdisciplinary research book on crystals, energy and imaging technologies. This publication project approaches crystals through the prism of the sensory, whilst also considering them as scientific objects, materials and resources embedded within extraction systems and a history of control of living organisms.

This project is rooted in the ongoing research conducted by Lise Thiollier at the laboratory of the Institute of Materials at Sorbonne University – Paris I. It follows on from the artist’s first institutional exhibition, entitled Métamorphoses de sel (Metamorphoses of Salt), held at the Galerie – Centre d’art d’intérêt national in Noisy-le-Sec from February to April 2025, curated by Alexia Pierre (2024 laureate of the Regional Fund for Emerging Talents (FoRTE)), and builds on the most recent stages of the artist’s research conducted during his residency at the International Centre for Art and Landscape (Ciap) on the Île de Vassivière from September to November 2025.

Lise Thiollier is an artist working mainly with sculpture and installation. She studied anthropology in the United Kingdom where she obtained a Master’s degree in Anthropology from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies, London) in 2016. She has been a member and resident of the W Pantin studio in Pantin since 2022. She develops a multidisciplinary practice combining sculpture, installation, natural and social sciences, with a strong focus on environmental issues. Her artistic approach is fuelled by encounters, exchanges and collaborations, driven by a desire to build bridges between science, art, architecture and anthropology. She constantly seeks to forge links between forms, images and language in order to bring new narratives to light and explore the tensions between ecology, memory and technology.

Alexia Pierre is a curator and critic currently based in Paris. Previously in Grenoble, she worked as junior curator at Le Magasin CNAC, national center for contemporary art, from its reopening in 2022 until recently. Through her research and independent projects, addressing questions of scale and ecology, she is interested in the notion of translocality and the links that can exist or emerge between distant territories. She is developing a practice through which time and listening become methods. She recently was a guest curator of a programme at Cité international des arts in partnership with the French Institute. She is a member of C-E-A, the french association for curators, and a resident at Ô Léonie.
